I listen to a lot of sermons – a lot.  And I do listen carefully and am often inspired, sometimes enlightened, but then again sometimes I am distressed, even angered at the horrible error spewed forth from some pulpits.  Here is something I heard a preacher by the name of John Piper say just this morning, a couple of hours ago:

“There’s not a righteous person in this room.  (He is preaching what he thinks is an “anointed” sermon to his congregation).  Everybody in this room is ungodly, sinful, bringing disrepute upon Jesus every day, and probably every hour of every day…”

What kind of congregation does that preacher have that he would say that?  And what kind of a spiritual leader, guide and instructor is he that his congregation would be of that character?  How could he fail them so miserably and not be crying in abject repentance instead of thundering what he assumes to be a God-anointed message given him by the Holy Ghost??

Do you know what his chosen text was that morning (or evening, I’m not sure whether it was a morning or evening service.  I have no doubt it was a classic Sunday service)?  He was expounding on Romans 7:15-25.  I should say he was utterly destroying that text, corrupting it, portraying the apostle Paul as an exceedingly sinful man who never ever got the victory over sin in his life, so why should we expect to do so!

If you haven’t visited my website and read my article “The Apostle Paul – Was He A Defeated Christian?” do it now!!  All you have to do is type the article’s title in the tiny search window at the top and it will be immediately brought up.

I thank God from the bottom of my heart for the enlightenment He has so graciously given me, especially when I listen to sermon after sermon of horrible, gross, devil-inspired error thundered from thousands of pulpits across the land weekly.  Yeah, I’ll keep speaking forth the truth in article after article, email after email until my dying day because from time to time, here and there someone will respond and say, “I thank God for you Donald Wiley.”  But, even if none ever responded, I would keep sitting at this keypad and writing article after article, proclaiming God’s truths.

Christ’s Aged Servant (Galatians 1:10-12),

Donald Wiley
