How is it that so many miss the plain, clear words the apostle Paul wrote in I Thessalonians 2, verse 10: “You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believe.” The apostle Paul is without doubt the most maligned, disparaged and vilified apostle ever to represent our Lord. And the most reprehensible thing of all is that men and women claiming to be anointed representatives of Jesus Christ lead the vanguard in discrediting Paul’s claim of having lived a holy, righteous and blameless life! Having no correct understanding of Romans 7, many use this passage of scripture to portray Paul as someone who was never able to gain the victory over sin. Such deluded men and women ignore the many easy-to-understand scriptures like I Thessalonians 2:10 and portray God’s holy apostle as a defeated Christian.
Do you know why Paul could assure the Thessalonian congregation God would be faithful to sanctify them totally, preserving their whole spirit, soul and body utterly blameless until the return of Jesus Christ? Because He had done it for Paul, that’s why. (See I Thessalonians 5:22-24).
Any pastor who tells their congregation they will never be able to break with sin totally and for all time, assuring them they will sin every day serves the cause of Satan, not the cause of God. No wonder modern Christianity is divided into dozens and dozens of differing and contradictory denominations and sects! God have mercy of all such as they surely are going to need it when they come face-to-face with the Lord Jesus Christ someday.
